Is fear keeping you from business growth?

Don’t let the title deceive you.  This is not one of those usual articles.

I came across this quote, which kind of inspired this post:

“Fear is the little darkroom where negatives are developed.” ~ Michael Pritchard, former professional American football player.

Are you letting fears create negativity in your business?

Are you afraid to take the next step in business growth?  When you are successful, there will come a time where you can only juggle so many balls in the air before they come crashing down.  .

This doesn’t mean your business will completely fail.  It just may mean that your productivity will be affected because you are being pulled in so many directions, trying to get it all done…and you can’t.

Or you could, but you’d rarely sleep, have any downtime or see your family.  That’s not terribly balanced.

There’s one particular person in a particular industry that I am just dying to work with.  But the thing is, this person is just not ready to give up any part of the reins yet.  Control is huge for us as small business owners.  Our business is our baby.

But here’s the deal: Do you want to be a control freak over the things that don’t need your personal attention?

I get it; you can still do those things, but do you need to?  Are those things little time-sucker-uppers that keep you from spending time on the areas of your business that bring you income?  Wouldn’t your time be better spent on those things that only you can do?

Here’s my take:  Give up your fear that not having control over every little  byte of data means the sky is falling.

Here’s my challenge to you:  Take 7 days and write down everything you do for your business and how much time you spend on it.

Be consistent in your journaling.  Then look back at what time you spent on what and see where you are spending your time.

Most likely you’ll be surprised at how much time is being spent on stuff that a trained VA, as your right hand person, can do for you.  And not only can she do it for you, but she can probably do it faster and more efficiently thank you can.

I’d love to read your comments after you do the 7 day challenge.
